Ursula Morgenstern recognizes the importance of education, and decided to take an active part in giving kids a good start for the school year, so in 2006 she co-founded Backpackpalooza, a backpack/school-supply drive for local school-age children living below the poverty line.
For the following year's event (which took place August 11 from 10-2 at
San Mateo Central Park)we at Elfenworks provided matching funds, so donors were able to help two children
for the price of one. The efforts were so successful that over six hundred backpacks were given away to
young learners.
Ursula Morgenstern is a 2007 Elfen Works Award recipient for her creative and compassionate efforts on behalf of impoverished children. We congratulate Ursula. her volunteer team, and the leadership at the Burlingame United Methodist Church for DOING SOMETHING about poverty in their community.
Next year, why not join Ursula as a volunteer or come enjoy the live music, games, raffle, face painting, and joy and celebration and
...help one, help many, create a ripple!
